The mission of the Fayette County Public Safety Benevolent Society, Inc. is to become a self-sufficient, self-sustaining organization providing supplemental financial support to its members in their time of need.

In 2005, a local Fire Fighter developed a terminal illness. This career employee did not have enough sick time and soon exhausted his family medical leave. He was unable to return to work and after a while lost his job. His co-workers banded together and assisted him financially.

In 2005, a local Fire Fighter developed a terminal illness. This career employee did not have enough sick time and soon exhausted his family medical leave. He was unable to return to work and after a while lost his job. His co-workers banded together and assisted him financially.
The experience with this employee lead to the creation of the Fayette County Public Safety Benevolent Society. The idea was to create assistance modeled after short term disability insurance. Assistance would be available without the member having to jump through hoops.
